TIME TO GET ILL

Happy Monday Wax Trax people!

A lot to talk about regarding INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT and the film festival circuit that we are now neck deep into.
Before we get into some past, present and future news, I wanted to again address a question that we keep getting, A LOT. Some of this has been repeated many times but hey, some folks are just finding out about the documentary so it makes sense that we might have to go over this a few more times.

Q: “The film is done so why can’t I download, stream or buy a Bluray or DVD of INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT now?  Are you guys crazy? I’m trying to give you my money and you won’t take it.” What a shitty way to treat your fans, you guys suck! (Yes, people actually have sent us hate email because we can’t sell them the DVD right now)

A: Trust us, nothing would make us happier than to usher this film through the ultimate finish line and make it available for purchase. Some people may not understand everything that goes into creating a project like this and then getting it to mass market. We legally can not sell this movie until we pay for the proper licenses for music in the film. Will that happen? -We hope so. But this is such a complicated process that it continues to be an uphill climb.

Q: Then why did my friend Carl just buy a ticket and see it at Rooftop film festival?…And speaking of “Film Festivals”, why are the screenings at all these festivals that don’t make sense? I mean come on…You screened in Cape Cod and didn’t screen in (insert bigger city here) – WTF? What a shitty way to treat your fans, you guys suck! (<sigh>Yes, people have actually sent us hate email about this too because there are no screenings by them)

A:  Part 1, We have paid for all the music in the film under something called a festival license. Typically it allows the filmmaker to show the movie publicly at festivals as they look for distribution, buyer, investor, etc. to help with funding for the much larger commercial license. The downside of this kind of license is we are contractually obligated to screen only at festivals. Our festival license will run out in 2019. Let’s hope we can acquire the funding to take this to the next level.

A: Part 2, Just to clarify again – We don’t pick the festivals, the festivals pick us. If we get passed up by let’s say a Texas festival, there isn’t a lot Wax Trax! can do about it.

-Just trying to be as transparent as possible. Hope that helps.

Onward and upward…

NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYN

We want to thank everyone who came out to our ROOFTOP FILMS screening in Brooklyn just over a month ago. We sold out the HOUSE OF VANS with over 900 Wax Trax! fans spread out in front of two screens. The response to the collector’s pop-up shop and archive gallery exhibit was incredible and we met so many amazing people throughout the night. Thank you!

You can read more about the Brooklyn event at REVOLVER magazine.

In the weeks that followed NY, we were able to get the film in front of fans in Massachusetts and then all the way over in Belgium. It has been a wild global ride and it ain’t over!

RIGHT RIGHT NOW NOW

What is next?… How about Greece, Switzerland, Northern UK, Canada, Spain, California, Michigan, Washington, Arizona…and of course Chicago?

Starting this week we have some very special screenings planned taking place all over the world. If you have been wanting to see this film and you will be in any of these areas, we strongly suggest checking out some of these festivals as we start a two month Blitzkrieg across the globe. As I’ve said above, there is no guarantee that we will be able to release this film commercially due to music licensing costs. It may be to only chance to see INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records. You snooze, you may lose!

In addition, a complete list of festivals and documentary news can be found at WAXTRAXFILMS.COM

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT

We still have a few more things up our sleeve and will be announcing more screenings in the next few weeks.
However, it is really you the fans that have the power to drive this film to a festival near your town. As I have mentioned before, we do not pick the festivals, the festivals pick us. If they don’t think there will be an audience, they may not want to take any risks.
This is not a complete list by any stretch and if you know of a festival in your area that runs between now and spring 2019.
Send them an email and let them know that the story of Wax Trax! Records does indeed need to be told at their festival.

Let your voice be heard. Click on the fest near you and ask them to program INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records

ANARCHY IN THE UK

Hello Wax Trax! People!

It’s time for a new documentary and general WAX TRAX! update.

Since we haven’t checked in since way back in 2017, let’s go over some old news before we dig into what’s happening today.

LA-Test-Screening_2017

As many of you remember, we had our special artist panel and test screening of INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT in LA, last November. I just want to go back and thank all our WAX TRAX! homies who were able to make it out to see the film and attend the special pop-up shop. What an incredible night! The gathering was undeniably about family and the sold out event was far beyond our expectations. It also ended up being a valuable tool in our post production process as we took the fan feedback very seriously.
Thank you to all who could attend!

For those who may have missed this video, here is a nice excerpt from the LA event, shot by Synthetik Films

Okay, this brings us back to the present and addressing one of our most frequent emails: “When can we see this damn film?”

Umm…How about next month?

LITTLE BRITAIN

OFFICIALSELECTIONLAUREL-EastEndFilmFestival-2018_WT-Flat_800px

(In my best Queen’s English) Here Ye-Here Ye! WAX TRAX! will be embarking on a Super-Sonic-Trans-Atlantic-Barn-Burner in order to bring our little documentary to the EAST END FILM FESTIVAL April, 2018! For all our international pals looking to finally check out this long awaited story of WAX TRAX!, please join us for our official UK premiere on April 26th, 2018.

Tickets can be secured through the East End Film Festival and directly through the CASTLE CINEMA theater. FYI-This UK screening is expected to sell out quickly. As always…If you blokes & birds snooze, you blokes & birds lose!

“Okay- But do you have any Non-Brittonic screenings planned?” you may ask…Well, duh.

We’ve got some really great things planned all around the world regarding INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT this year and will pass along the details as part of the official festival announcements. Stay tuned for more info from waxtraxfilms.com as we roll out the 2018 screenings over the next few weeks. Complete info can be found a waxtraxfilms.com.

A DAISY CHAIN 4 TOURING

As we shake off the last days of winter, we could not be happier that some of the original key WAX TRAX! artists will be crossing the US for some springtime touring love.

FRONT 242

44-og

The self-professed Dance Commandos will be hitting the states starting in April for some select dates.
What is special about this time, is the inclusion of some cities that have previously been off the touring route. For a full list of dates and venues check out the official FRONT 242 website.

MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT

My-Life-With-The-Thrill-Kill-Kult-Press-photo-1-770x470

Everyone’s favorite sextreme artists, Groovie Mann and Buzz McCoy will also be crossing these amber waves of grain starting in April. This is an extension of their 30th anniversary tour and will be digging back through their deep and long history as pioneers of the dance floor.
A full list of dates can be found on the official TKK Newz page.

MINISTRY

25289512-10156075085844446-6574611483429590374-n
The extensive AmeriKKKant! tour will be in full swing in the US starting next week in support of the new Ministry release of the same name. Starting in California and ending in Texas, the US shows will blaze the trail for a world tour that will go through late August. For those who haven’t seen Ministry for a while, the set list seems to have been reworked to reflect both new and older material. Perhaps by next tour we’ll be able to hear a little (Every Day Is) Halloween…A girl can dream can’t she? -Bop bop.

LEAD INTO CONNELLY

ChrisC_600px

Our beloved Scottish skallywag is at it again. The Tide Stripped Bare is Chris Connelly’s 20th release to date! Oh where has the time gone. It seems like only yesterday, a young spry Chris was provoking RevCo fans on Chicago’s (Cabaret) Metro stage for YGDSOB. The new album sold out on CD quickly but can still be found digitally on all the normal platforms. For more info on all things Connelly, check out his main site.

Jeeze-Will Mr. Connelly ever slow down?…Let’s hope not.

LIG_SavageGift_01

A new offering from everyone’s favorite Bass-Master-General is now available. Lead Into Gold has released the new 12″ – A SAVAGE GIFT / INSIDE A GOLDEN SUN. with a new full length coming soon. Hmm…could more live shows this year be close behind? Looks like this truly is the age of reason.

CLASS UP THAT ICE BOX

WARMING UP TO COLD WAVES

cwV_finalsitebanner

Looks like the fine folks of Cold Waves have been busy since last year’s shindig.
MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO? COCKS? CLOCKDVA? the weekend is shaping up to make the long time WAX TRAX! fan pretty happy!

We are super excited to hang out with our old friends Richard 23 & Luc Van Acker while they’re in town, but even more excited that they will be sharing the stage with blood brothers, Chris Connelly & Paul Barker over the weekend.

ATTACK SHIPS ON TOUR?

12in_REVCO_Sexyland_fnt

My little birds are everywhere and lately they are whispering something wonderful.
Might be a good time to get that passport updated because I hear Big Sexyland may be expanding its borders.
Are The Stainless Steel Providers taking their dog & pony show on the road to mark the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking album Big Sexyland? I don’t know…But maybe it’s not so crazy that The COCKS might be coming soon to a venue near “you and your hog bitch girlfriend”.

THE SONOLOGY OF CLOCKDVA

Logo_CDVA_circle

As if that wasn’t reason enough to bust out the Manic Panic and lace up those 8 hole DMs…
Mr. Adi Newton will be bringing ClockDVA on the road here in the US for the first time in years!

WAX UK

Brussels-atomium_01

One last thing about our little documentary. A nice shout out to our friends in Europe. WAX TRAX is coming for you! As we continue to move forward, we have a great new opportunity to involve some additional WT artists. Our film crew will be heading overseas this month. The only super-bummer is THEY ARE GOING WITHOUT ME!  I really hope they bring me back some BELGIAN CHOCOLATE since the mayo and fries don’t travel well.

That’s it for now (See, I told you it was a quick note)

-Hope to see some of you this Friday at the Chop Shop. Until next time…
