Hello again Wax Trax! people
Just wanted to drop you all a quick little note as we get ready for the big week ahead of us.
First things first…
As most of you know, FRONT 242 return to the states 30 years to the day! We hope you will join the band for these special dates to celebrate their US beginning here in 1984.
9/24 NYC/ Irving Plaza
9/25 Tampa FL/ Orpheum
9/27 Chicago- Cold Waves Fest/ Metro
In addition to their Chicago show, we hope some of you will be able to stick around for a special Sunday event to round out the weekend as Richard & Patrick take over the DJ booth in Smart Bar...See you on the dance floor 9/28!
TAKE ONE (Or maybe two, They won’t last long)
So, do you remember how we announced how Wax Trax! was releasing a special 7″ to mark the 30th Anniversary of the band’s first US show?
Well, we thought the limited red vinyl of 500 was pretty cool, BUT we felt that it just didn’t do the event justice. Come on, I mean we are talking 30 YEARS! that is pretty damn impressive.
We decided to kick it up a notch or two. In addition to the red pressing, we are offering a super deluxe ultra official boxed version with all kinds of goodies stuffed inside.
Here is what we have for you:
- Take one/ Im Rhythmus Bleiben 7″ on CLEAR vinyl with an alternative cover
- 16 page booklet with photos and liner notes by the band as they began to work with Wax Trax! Records
- 3 numbered screen prints from Wax Trax! era art
- 242 Patch
- 242 metal pin
- Reprint/ screen print of original Medusas ticket from the first US show
- All housed in a pretty sweeeeeet collectors box
Oh…Did I mention that we only made 200 of these? 242 Collectors…Go get em!
For those wondering, yes-we will also have these at the 3 US shows…But be warned, NYC & Tampa will have a VERY limited amount on hand.
For those of you in town for the Chicago shows, make sure you stop into our lil’ merch & store area as we take over a nice little chunk of the METRO Box office for Friday & Saturday. We will have a selection of vintage Wax Trax! vinyl, test pressings, posters and T-Shirts and of course the latest Wax Trax! Cocksure 12″ and new Front 242 7″.
ONTO OTHER NEWS…
As some of you have heard, Chicago is officially Bonkers for Bowie. The Bowie exhibit kicked off today here at the MCA and is the only US city to show Mr. Jones’ personal collection. We were super proud that Chris Connelly and his Sons Of The Silent Age were asked to perform to mark the opening.
